Slippin’ and Slidin’

Friday, December 19th, 2008

There’s a 50’s song with those words, but at the moment I can’t remember all the correct words to the verse; although the tune and music is repeating itself in my brain. Anyway, that’s what we’re doin’ here in Iowa. Currently there’s over 200 schools closed throughout the state due to last nights storm.

Kinda awesome, some places saw thunder/lightning/snow/ice all at once. Southern Iowa (me) got ice, and Northern Iowa got snow (up to 8″). We’ll get another round tomorrow, and it’s all headed east. I saw on the news this morning that Chicago is getting ready.

Still, it’s not anywhere near as bad as last year………YET. Iowa has recruited 3 nearby states for help and on standby if we lose power, so we hopefully won’t be without as long as last year (some were without for 2 weeks!).

From comparing last year’s amount of ice on the trees to today, I don’t think I’ll lose any limbs. Last year everybody’s trees were either uprooted, or lost their tops and limbs.

On a brighter note, I got interviewed again! Katinka interviewed me for her blog on squidtop, and I thank her for the honor and opportunity! I’m the Flowergardener on Squidoo, check it out if you get a chance. I think she’s doing a very unselfish thing, promoting Squidoo and lensmasters.

No Magic Wand For Me

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

My Father used to say while shaking his head from left to right and smiling, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, what am I going to do with you? WHY do you always have to learn things the hard way? WHY can’t you just do as instructed? WHY do you have to circle around something and try to find YOUR way to do it?

Well, my Father has been gone for 35 years, but his statement of ‘learn things the hard way’ was correct all those years ago. Seems to be my way of life.

Hummm, maybe that’s why I have a hard time accepting anything that just ‘comes to me’, and that people can be nice? Because it’s happened so rarely in my life?

I got a letter from Fema yesterday, my claim for help with a roof for my home was denied. 4 months of going back and forth, you know, forms, insurance, estimates, on and on and on. A winter with tarps covering what’s left of the roof………, with 1 1/2 rooms completely stripped of inside ceilings and insulation……..Yeeee - Haaaaa.

Guess my internet marketing had better get much better very soon. Speaking of which, this blog will be remodeled soon. Yes, I will still have my personal posts, but I want to take them in a whole new direction; just not sure which direction that is yet! LOL

I would like to publicly apologise to PotPieGirl, Jennifer. Today I received a very special email from her. I was an ass. If you ever get a chance, get on over to her blog, it really is wonderful.

Whats Up?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

It’s been awhile (2 months) since I’ve posted here. Been busy learning how to do double meta refreshes, c-panel, cloaking links, inserting email submit forms, advertising avenues, conquering wordpress, and making an ebook.

I’m about 3/4 of the way of understanding it all. Lots of reading, lots of trials and errors. If I get confused with one method, I move on to another one. By the time I make it back to the first method I can finally grasp more of the information.

I guess that’s the way I filter things? My mind must be busy, and when the methods move farther down the line of ‘getting it’, all of the different things to do for internet marketing start to ‘mesh’.

Dog Worms not hot no more

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Dang it. Visits down this week, back to normal really, (one just above 2,000 and the other at 1,800). The high traffic last week to my Dog Worm Squidoo lens and Dog Medicines and their Side Effects lens must have been for 2 reasons.

#1 I answered some questions on Yahoo about Dog Worms and Dog Medicines.

#2 I moved the ever popular pug picture off the Dog Worm Squidoo lens.

That damned photo was getting over 100 clicks a week, every week, for the last 2 months…..I put it on my Dogs and Worms.com!

Kinda makes me wonder how many copied it, oh well, it wasn’t my copyrighted material anyway. They still want it, they’ll have to click over to my website.

I’m getting anywhere from 30-50 visitors a day to the new material since it went ‘live’. That’s ok. Hopefully the one’s that don’t click over are more interested in any of my other 10+ dog health links on the Squidoo page.

Makes me feel that if they do click over, they’re VERY interested, and more willing to try my herbal dog worm medicine, rather than the crap the FDA passes off as medicine, with terrible side effects.

Gonna have to periodically check in with Yahoo answers, and see if there’s anything I know something about again!

Checked big “G” tonight, and found dogsandworms.com at the top of page 3, meaning it’s #21. Not bad, especially since the Squidoo dogworm page wasn’t there, and it’s ranked I think a pr 4, plus it’s only been live since Sept. 8th, first full day on it’s own was the 9th.

Next on the agenda is the Dog Medicine Squidoo page. Sheesh, what a undertaking, and I haven’t found the motivation to get it rolling and done yet.

Got alot of things on my plate right now, waiting on baited and asthma-ed breath for the insurance approval or denial for a new roof of my home. If they won’t cover it, I’ve got to get in touch with FEMA. Trying to dry out from 3 days of rain. One of my asthma triggers is cold and damp……yee-haw. Gonna have to end up replacing the furnace from the last basement flood. It got to the 50’s last week, so I flipped the breaker on the furnace, buzzzzzzzz was all I got.

Going to have really nice weather starting tomorrow, so I’ve got a chance to clean up the backyard and get the flowergardens ready for winter. Think I’ll just let the Squidoo pages float along the rest of this month……That is, unless I get pissed again…..which is highly probable.

What’s Up With Young People These Days?

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Repeatedly I’ve been disgusted with people that I am more than twice as old as. I’ve actually seen the social blunders in my own 26 year old son a few times……..whom I gave birth to at the age of 27.

Yea, I can remember 27. I can also remember 21, and uprooting myself from everything I’d ever known in my life, to move 1600 miles away, with no job, no income, and less than $500 to my name.

I can remember graduating HS at 17, going to a trade school, getting a very good job, moving out of home, and starting my life before I turned 18.

The blunders I’ve seen a few times in my son? Lack of respect. Of course he doesn’t practice it habitually, and there’s always been a reason for the act.

Others the same age carry it way too far, acting like they know it all, and that their shit doesn’t stink………all you’ve got to do is give them an opening, and they’ll be sure to converse as if they’re superior.

Which of course, really shows that they haven’t lived long enough to work through their feelings of inferiority. You know how human physchology works don’t you? What ever a person is trying to convey the most is actually what they feel the most inferior about.

Oh how much I would love to have a one-on-one with the latest little twit. I’m superior, look at me! I now have a title……..and it’s went to my head! Can’t you see how big my head is? That makes me better than you!!! I’m SOMEBODY! Now I can piss off more people with my cryptic remarks, just as I’ve done in the past………trying to sound O so smart!

When reality is the little 25-26 year old person is still living at home with mommy and daddy.

The person has NOT had to wonder how to pay the heat bill before it gets shut off.

Or the Rent….Or the Lights….Or the groceries…..and probably not even the pet food, gasoline, or car payment.

The person has NOT had to clock in at 8 and clock out at 5.

The person hasn’t even started their own life 7-8 years after HS., and I don’t believe the years can be excused as going to college.

Get out of mommy and daddy’s……..LIVE………EXPERIENCE…….then maybe you can have a conversation that would deserve respect.
