Slippin’ and Slidin’
Friday, December 19th, 2008There’s a 50’s song with those words, but at the moment I can’t remember all the correct words to the verse; although the tune and music is repeating itself in my brain. Anyway, that’s what we’re doin’ here in Iowa. Currently there’s over 200 schools closed throughout the state due to last nights storm.
Kinda awesome, some places saw thunder/lightning/snow/ice all at once. Southern Iowa (me) got ice, and Northern Iowa got snow (up to 8″). We’ll get another round tomorrow, and it’s all headed east. I saw on the news this morning that Chicago is getting ready.
Still, it’s not anywhere near as bad as last year………YET. Iowa has recruited 3 nearby states for help and on standby if we lose power, so we hopefully won’t be without as long as last year (some were without for 2 weeks!).
From comparing last year’s amount of ice on the trees to today, I don’t think I’ll lose any limbs. Last year everybody’s trees were either uprooted, or lost their tops and limbs.
On a brighter note, I got interviewed again! Katinka interviewed me for her blog on squidtop, and I thank her for the honor and opportunity! I’m the Flowergardener on Squidoo, check it out if you get a chance. I think she’s doing a very unselfish thing, promoting Squidoo and lensmasters.
