Changing Gears

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The increasing insecurity of my internet content has been smaking me in the face a lot. I’d be a total idiot not to notice all the separate instances and start adding them up for a larger view my ultimate goals.

I looked at my Squidoo lenses last night, and realized that among the 93 separate lenses (one page web sites), I have 27 of them that are bringing into Squidoo 7,735 visitors a week.

My ultimate goals? Be my own boss. Control my own internet real-estate in every way. I cannot do this with Squidoo. I have given them a year of my devotion and my unique original articles. They have given me a free opportunity to learn and hone my skills about internet marketing, and an income.

My year’s worth of work is not secure. It is in the hands of others, and I have absolutely NO input of any changes that would affect my work. My articles, their availability of up-time, java-script, access to css, meta tags, and everything else is in control of others, and can change at their whim.

It’s time to change gears, if I want to continue building my reputation and ultimate work at home success. I’ve seen a few others do it. I spent 2 days reading everything a couple of Squidoo lensmasters claim they have done. I even emailed one, of course she claims to be wanting to teach and show other’s how to become independant, but the bottom line is she’s hawking her e-books, and her friends e-books.

Oh, she’s pumped herself up, claiming she’s a very successful Squidoo lensmaster, when in reality, I’ve created more lenses than she has, that are more successful than hers are, in terms of visitors from search engines and Google’s PR ranking. HA…….needless to say, she didn’t answer my email, which just asked her opinion on the direction I should start……1 website, or a bunch of them, to cover my various topics.

Last night, I stayed up just searching the internet. I found that to insure a ‘duplicate’ tag is not put on my content, if I want to transfer it to another domain, I should use a 301 redirect. I cannot do that with Squidoo, because they don’t give me the access. So there sits all my original articles, one of which is on page 1 of google in 2 places, and again on page 2 of google in 1 place………AND I DON’T OWN IT. SQUIDOO HAS CONTROL OF IT. Believe me, I will find a way to own my content and have control of it, without hopefully loosing the PR and visitors.

To relieve my frustrations, I started looking in my Clickbank account, and searched for ‘Squidoo’. WHAT A BUNCH OF SHYSTERS AND LIERS!

There’s two scumbags, with 3 other scumbags that have made a circle of interlocking tools, videos, ebooks, websites, blogs, lenses, bookmarking sites, and services.

Then there’s the lone-rangers, that have made a ebook of the greatest secrets and tips to becoming successful with Squidoo.

The biggest and main thing that ties them all together is the fact that they’re FEEDING on lensmasters. They’re not on Squidoo to make an affiliate income by producing their unique original articles. NO. They are on Squidoo to push the normal desire of a group of people (with the bonus of other people outside of Squidoo) to make money, and to take an easy way out of doing that.

They are vulchers, swooping down on their target, that Squidoo has very conveniently gathered together for easier pickings.

The thing that is hilarious, and repeats itself throughout all of them is their bogus claims of how successful their Squidoo lenses are, and their outright lies, which of course, are all weaved in to make the reader think that they can produce those stats and that money too.

2 particularly offer screen-shots of their lenses. One’s screenshot is bogus, the lens does NOT exist. The creator of the newest ebook talks of how poor he was in the UK before he figured out how to game Squidoo. Reality is the man is a banker.

Another one’s screenshot of his supposed lens on the 1st page of Google is also a lie. It is not on the first page, in fact, the lens has had only 1 visitor in the last week. If you look at the image he offers of the lens, the lensmaster name is bogus, but if you look at the other lenses he recommends, you’ll find the real lenses’ urls………..and also find that he has dominated the topic by signing up his family members and more additional accounts, and ‘created’ numerous lenses with the same topic.

To finish off my lovely bit of detective work, I decided to check out the service of having others make a Squidoo lens for you. I looked at the lenses these ‘guru’s’ were producing for people, at a very high cost. WHAT A JOKE! Every lens they’ve produced contain amazon links (produced by a buddy that has inserted a code to receive a commission of the sale), and stitched together very general ‘content’ that anyone can find on the internet. I must say tho, that one particular lens they created for a price did stand up to my qualifications, I had actually admitted it into one of my groups; but I now hold no respect for the lensmaster, because they weren’t the one that created the lens……..the lensmaster bought it.
