How To Get A Fast Response From Squidoo HQ

February 23rd, 2009

Ha ha ha,

Did that grab your attention?

I’ve read numerous posts on the squidoo forum about waiting forever for a response from HQ when a lensmaster either reports a lens or has a bug problem. Well, I sure didn’t have to wait long to hear from them, and I didn’t even report anything!

All ya gotta do is mistakenly click the ‘reply’ button when you receive an email from someone clicking your ‘email me’ button on your lens.

DUH. That’s what I did to an email from Brenda informing me that she had submitted her lens to one of my groups. Instead of logging into Squidoo, going to my ‘comments’ tab, and clicking on her name, then replying to her…I hit the ‘reply’ button in my email.

And my reply was nice, but it also spoke of the downfall of squidoo to do anything to either promote, make more visible, or upgrade the Groups.

Boy, let me tell ya……..they jumped all over that. I got a reply the very next day from Kimberly informing me what I had done, then a reply from Megan.

Megan’s email stated: “I’m sorry to hear you’re so disgusted by our decisions and efforts for the community.  I’m happy to answer your questions if you’d like clarity on any of the claims below.
As always we welcome feedback, but if you’re inclined to move on to another venue, we’ll understand.

Best of luck,
Megan

Now was that FUNNY or not??? Does anybody like country music out there? Ever since that email I’ve had a song singing in my brain. Don’t know what the title is, but part of the chorus is “If you think I won’t gooooooo…..WATCH ME,…….watch me walk awayyyyyy…..”

Kinda makes this old girl paranoid :/  Don’t know if ya’ll remember the fiasco with the last announcement for Angel volunteers; but I volunteered, actually I volunteered before they announced recruitment for new Angels. Well, that email, and another email at the time of recruitment mysteriously ‘was not received’. So I copied the sent email they ‘didn’t receive’, and sent it again……….but alas…….. they had already chosen the new Angels.

Mysteriously my top lens took a nose dive by 70 points, just 4 points short of being out of the top 100 overall the next morning from receiving the 2 emails from HQ. I had updated it 2 days before, and it was still above 1,700 visitors for the week. It’s been on the top 100 for over a year.

I recently read of Squidoo claiming how much traffic their website receives a month. Well………this little ONE lensmaster brings them up to and over 30,000 a month herself.

As I posted below, I’m changing my internet service provider on the 25th. On my webspace with that provider is alot of image files that I have linked to on my lenses. So, if you happen upon one of my lenses with broken links or images, that’s why.

I’ve went thru 35 of my lenses so far, by viewing the ’source’, and writing down which images they’ve used…….so hopefully when I move the files to another space I can quickly get into each lens and change the image link.

By having to do that the last couple of days that song is really loudly repeating in my consious. I may take a dive in profits and visits for awhile, but by God I WILL own all my content and have control of it.

THEN I can implement all the cool java widgets that amazon and ebay make available! :) :) :)

Gonna Look Different Soon

February 23rd, 2009

As if you haven’t guessed, I created the header to this blog. In a few months, the files will be transferred to my servers; although I can get in all the littledebbiesworld files, they’re being hosted by someone else.

The fellow squidoo member did me a favor by hosting this and helping me set it up, as it was my first self-hosted blog, unlike the free wordpress and blogger.

I stayed up till 4 am last night, looking thru wordpress themes, and still haven’t made a choice; as I want this blog to have 3 columns and the ability to neatly catagorize the things it will focus on.

What will it focus on? Flowers and gardening, My day to day life & thoughts,  My internet marketing trials, errors, & successes, and anything else I want to talk about.

I already have another couple of websites to focus on Herbal Medicines and Pet Meds, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Dogs and Worms, and Quality Natural Medicine.

On the 25th I’ll be changing internet providers. What a mess! I’m finally going to get away from the crappy iowatelecom product and switch to mediacom.

Slippin’ and Slidin’

December 19th, 2008

There’s a 50’s song with those words, but at the moment I can’t remember all the correct words to the verse; although the tune and music is repeating itself in my brain. Anyway, that’s what we’re doin’ here in Iowa. Currently there’s over 200 schools closed throughout the state due to last nights storm.

Kinda awesome, some places saw thunder/lightning/snow/ice all at once. Southern Iowa (me) got ice, and Northern Iowa got snow (up to 8″). We’ll get another round tomorrow, and it’s all headed east. I saw on the news this morning that Chicago is getting ready.

Still, it’s not anywhere near as bad as last year………YET. Iowa has recruited 3 nearby states for help and on standby if we lose power, so we hopefully won’t be without as long as last year (some were without for 2 weeks!).

From comparing last year’s amount of ice on the trees to today, I don’t think I’ll lose any limbs. Last year everybody’s trees were either uprooted, or lost their tops and limbs.

On a brighter note, I got interviewed again! Katinka interviewed me for her blog on squidtop, and I thank her for the honor and opportunity! I’m the Flowergardener on Squidoo, check it out if you get a chance. I think she’s doing a very unselfish thing, promoting Squidoo and lensmasters.

Thank You Jesus

December 8th, 2008

Thank you God………Thank you Holy Spirit.

On my post of 11-25 I stated that my claim for help with a much needed roof for my home was denied.

The damage is really bad, as the contractor estimated it would take $8,000 to put a new one on. I was so emotionally drained from 5 months of dealing with the insurance company and fema, and 2 previous denials, that I just couldn’t bring myself to call fema and find out why it was denied………..

Until this morning. The lady looked through my claim and stated that the previous person had not taken everything in the file into consideration. “Pat” approved my claim this morning!

Although the amount I’ve been awarded is 22% of the estimate, I’m still VERY VERY thankful. I started crying, which started “Pat” crying.

Thank you so much Jesus!

I can manage to get the needed materials now. I’ll be checking the supply stores regularly for lower prices all this winter, thinking it should be a bit less expensive during the ‘off’ season.

I’m gonna have a ROOF this spring!!!!!!!!!!

My Flower Images

December 6th, 2008

If anyone has been following this blog, I’ve mentioned that my name on Squidoo is Flowergardener. Taking care of my backyard and 2,000 sq. ft. of flowerbeds really is a joy to me, (although I wouldn’t turn down any amount of help at any time!)

I live a pretty secluded lifestyle by myself, I’m not too social anymore except to gather my mail and go to the grocery store. Really the only other places I frequent is my mother’s home and son’s home, but don’t let those facts lead you to believe I’m lonely. I’m really not!

I’ve filled this big house of mine with things I love: crafts, 3 dogs, a cat, and many many plants to take care of.

I’d like to show you the fruits of my labor from my backyard. I think it’s around 100 flower images that I’ve put into 3 youtube videos:
